Closing For Our Community: A Blade of Grass’ Response to COVID-19

We are committed to slowing the spread of COVID-19 and for this reason have closed our office to work remotely, and have suspended public programs and other gatherings. We are evaluating these decisions on a weekly basis, and we will continue to until it is no longer necessary and advised.
A Blade of Grass is an art organization that believes in the power people have when they all come together to create change. Healthcare leaders are advising all of us, whether we are personally at risk or not, to limit social contact, avoid travel and overcrowding, and change our hygiene routines. These measures are both to protect ourselves but, more importantly, as an act of solidarity and collective care that protects those of us who need it most.
We’re taking these recommendations seriously for the health of our staff, artists, and immediate community. We cannot think of a more socially engaged action to take right now than to consider those of us who desperately need the spread of this pandemic slowed. We’re thinking of healthcare providers; those of us who are older, are immunocompromised or in another risk group; and those whose economic reality does not include health insurance, paid sick leave, or the ability to decide not to work. These folks need us to act swiftly and responsibly.
During this time, we shift our primary means of connection to our social media channels and through our original content online, which we will continue to update. We hope you’ll seek us out when you have space and time to mentally wander, learn, dream and plan for the future. We’re also preparing for our next cohort of 2020 Fellows, whose selection and awards will not be impacted by these precautions.
We look forward to seeing many of you in person when this difficult moment has passed, and we restart an inspiring lineup of public programs and events.
In the meantime, please take care of yourselves and the most vulnerable among us, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns: info@abladeofgrass.org.
