Our search is now closed, we will be announcing our next leadership soon!
….
Dear Friends,
It’s been a busy summer and fall since we came together as a paid, professional board of artists and arts workers, and embarked on stewarding the institution forward, building on the legacy of Founders Shelley Frost Rubin (Board Chair) and Deborah Fisher (Executive Director).
We have been meeting every two weeks: sharing our aspirations for the future and negotiating what is feasible, reviewing budgets and financial plans; fundraising; and working with Suzy Delvalle, Interim Executive Director, and Ixtzel Reynoso, Program and Operations Manager, on refining our internal operations to ensure new leadership is set up to successfully hit the ground running come spring. As part of this process, we have updated our investment policy to align with our values (ex. include deposits at local credit unions, investing in clean energy, etc.) and implemented a “Do No Harm” policy by avoiding investments that support industries that undermine our values or harm our communities (examples include the prison industry, firearms, tobacco, fossil fuels, and so on). Subsequently, divesting and re-investing our reserves accordingly.
With that, we are excited to announce that we are starting our search for A Blade of Grass’ next permanent leader(s); visionary advocate(s) in the field of socially engaged art who thrive(s) in a start-up culture, believe(s) in an artist-centered approach to governance, and practice(s) an ethic of care towards staff and community. We encourage anyone interested to apply. Applications from an executive director, co-directors or other models are welcome, as are applications from practicing artists and individuals who are not in the arts sector.
As always, we want to know your thoughts! Do not hesitate to reach out with questions or responses.
We look forward to being in community with you soon.
With gratitude,
ashley, Brett, Diya, Gregory, Michael P. and Michael Q.
Board of Directors
